This is the event everyone is talking about in Paris: the Arc de Triomphe wrapped, Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s famous last work. To celebrate this historical moment, pastry chef Jeffrey Cagnes reveals his brand-new and very soft creation, the Arc Empaqueté. Available from September 18 to October 3, only!

For two weeks, Parisians and tourists have the unique chance to admire Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s posthumous work, shining a (wrapped) light on the Arc de Triomphe. For pastry chef Jeffrey Cagnes and the Maison Albar Hotels - Champs-Elysées, it was out of the question not to pay homage to these great artists and their last work in their own way.

Meet at the Noham Café, the hotel’s cozy bar at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe to discover Jeffrey Cagnes’s creation. The chef amazes us by recreating a mini-Arc de Triomphe that is as tasty as gorgeous: the Arc Empaqueté.

This exclusive pastry is available in limited edition (only 350 pieces, so, you better hurry!) and from September 18 to October 3, 2021.

This individual entremets is made of light vanilla and salted butter caramel mousse, vanilla sponge finger, hazelnut and salt flake streusel and white chocolate velvet powder, finely decorated with silver leaves. This lovely pastry accurately recreates the wrapped Paris monument.

Even better, it tastes better than the Arc on the Place Charles de Gaulle! The very delicate and fresh mousse brings a light and very delightful hint, especially on warm days. The core of the entremets, with its caramel, gives a stronger note in the mouth, but does not cover the rest. We also appreciate the crunch of the cake, giving some welcomed texture. The cake is overall light and does not weigh down after a meal.

The Arc Empaqueté pastry is available in several menus:

  • The Arc Empaqueté pastry to take out | €10 / On site | €12
  • The Arc Empaqueté pastry and a hot drink or Dammann Frères iced tea | €17
  • The Arc Empaqueté pastry and its glass of champagne brut nature Joseph Perrier | €25
  • The Arc Empaqueté pastry and its glass of champagne vintage 2012 Joseph Perrier | €32

Do not give it any second thought and enjoy this delicious creation paying a moving tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude. To enjoy a similar experience, try the “wrapped” meal at Odette, L’Auberge Urbaine.

The wrapping of the Arc de triomphe by Christo is to be admired from September 18 to October 3, 2021. The monumental work is said to make the Parisian monument disappear under 25,000 sqm of recyclable polypropylene silver and blue fabric and 7,000 m of red rope. An event in close partnership with Centre Pompidou and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (National Monuments Center). Despite the artist passing away in May 2020, the performance is to be held still. [Read more]
