Let us run in the 11th arrondissement, a stone’s throw from the Atelier des Lumières to discover @unreve, a new café-tearoom, patisserie-bakery marvelously mixing tasty coffee shop dishes and Asian and Chinese flavors. Here, everything is fresh, homemade and made on site. Why @unreve, you wonder? Simply because Estelle’s dream is coming true here.
At the entrance, discover the pastry counter displaying a lovely range of treats to enjoy. It has classic such as Flan but vanilla-Baileys version or Paris-Brest with homemade almond-hazelnut praline, as well as exotic products. Go for the cococofee tart shaped like a rose and mixing cocoa shortcrust, chocolate crémeux, coffee praline, coconut dacquoise, whipped milk chocolate ganache, coconut whipped cream and crumble.
The Nuage Litchi with black sesame and the Earl Grey ananas are a great discovery if you enjoy experimenting. Allow between €4 and €7.50 per cake.
Let us have a seat for an indulging break. The place is clear, bright and relaxing, opening from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and welcomes you for breakfast, lunch and in the afternoon, or for brunch at weekends. On sunny days, a terrace awaits in front of the tearoom.
When we came, we had the Matcha latte and the Sesame latte, both as delicious as tasty, we love it. The sesame croissant is perfect, the matcha pancakes are topped with praline, fruits, caramel and hazelnuts, very decadent, and we ate them right up.
As for the savory part, we went for the surprising pairing between croissant and stewed pork. Add to this some pickled radishes and fermented cabbages, marinated egg and lamb’s salad and here we get an unexpected dish we enjoyed a lot.
The Fried Chicken Toast is very delightful as well. Homemade white bread wrapped in egg, chives, and black sesame, topped with fried chicken and served with Tianmian sauce, and roasted cherry tomatoes, so good.
Last but not least, we recommend the funny Chinese black sesame donuts, a donut mixed to mochi and served with Morello cherry coulis and sweetened condensed milk. Yes, it sounds disturbing, but you have to taste it to get the idea.
In other words, how about testing a new and original coffee shop?
