Macaron Day, created by our dear friend Pierre Hermé, about 16 years ago, is back on Friday March 20, 2020.
For 14 years, clients could come in store and make a donation and were rewarded by the macaron of their choice! In 2019, it's a new format that came for this wonderful operation highlighted by Relais Desserts association.
This year, photographer Stéphane de Bourgis (Zazakely Sambatra chairman), Relais Desserts pastry chefs, Pierre Hermé and Vincent Guerlais (Relais Desserts chairman) have decided to team up for the second year in a row and work for children in Madagascar. Macaron Day, edition 2020, will fight for the Zazakely Sambatra charity again, a Madagascan association meaning "Happy Children".
On March 20, 2020, over 100 Relais Desserts stores will sell a six-macaron box inspired by Madagascan flavores (chocolate, vanilla, spices...) including a signature creation in each house. Note that these six macarons will be sold in a limited-edition box especially created on the occasion with a design inspired by Madagascan fabric.
Let’s recall that last year, in 2017, €50,000 have been raised thanks to the gourmet solidarity of over 300 volunteers in stores and committed Relais Desserts pâtissiers. These donations have been shared between priority missions: healing while supporting research programs, curing, improving the life quality, informing and raising awareness in order to defeat the disease one day.
Don’t forget, on March 20, run to whole participating stores (over 100 stores in France) to do your gourmet good deed.
