Major star in coffee shops for years, chai latte is this winter again a go-to. But do you know what chai latte actually is? Unlike the usual latte, chai latte is mostly based on black tea and foamy milk.
Originally, chai – meaning “tea” in Hindi – was used as a medicinal remedy because of its many antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. As a matter of fact, it is said to reinforce the immune system, relieve stomach aches and improve digestion.
Inside, lots of spices: cinnamon and ginger first, as well as black pepper, cardamom, or clove. To be honest, there are many recipes, and they change with regions, creators and coffee shops you can enjoy them in. Some emphasize ginger, others cinnamon; some add some honey and vanilla for more scrumptiousness and comfort!
