When it comes to treating yourself to a relaxing stay in Île-de-France, Domaine de la Corniche is a staple. Set in Yvelines, 45 minutes from Paris, this lovely haven of peace promises you to spend a wonderful moment with your beloved ones. Whether you come as a couple, with your family or friends, there is something for everyone. After all, everyone deserves to have some me-time!
Perched at the edge of a chalk cliff by the Seine, the Domaine de la Corniche welcomes visitors in a setting worthy of a postcard. Here, the Parisian hustle and bustle seems so far away and to be honest it feels really good! But beyond the lovely green landscape, this ideal place to go green warmly welcomes us and makes us feel at home.
From our double bedroom, we are not tired of the beautiful views on the Seine. We feel enchanted by them at any time of the day. The highlight of the show was the morning after, when we woke up, we saw a morning fog and we felt like on a cloud… which was pretty close to reality!
For this charming hotel has many surprises in store. From the hall, the bar and the magnificent views attract us and welcome us in a modern yet warm setting. Downstairs, a billiard room open to all awaits challengers while movie-fans can rush to the movie theater where movies are played all day long.
As we wander around, we find an outdoor swimming pool, as well as a romantic pavilion, where we treat ourselves to a long break to enjoy the calm and the views. And you can even dine there! We lose our way in the middle of the greenery before we find the vegetable garden. A little hill goes straight to the panoramic restaurant. Their secret is uncovered: local food is served at Domaine de la Corniche starred restaurant.
Good and indulging food on the menu
In addition to the magnificent panorama on the Seine, the Panoramique is a starred gourmet restaurant that knows how to stand out. Far from the cliché of the teeny-weeny dishes that are not feeding us enough, chef Gaëtan Perulli offers a menu in 5 or 7 courses, very well balanced, including wine pairing.
In an eco-friendly approach, he also privileges producers as local as possible in order to limit the carbon footprint. The menu changes almost every day, respecting the produces’ seasonality and make sure you enjoy a wonderful culinary experience. Flawless.
By the way, the chef changes the menu almost daily depending on his mood and inspirations. He also adapts the menu to guests’ diet. He managed to brilliantly serve a vegetarian menu to one of our table neighbors. Add to this a passionate, very patient and welcoming staff.
As for us, Gaëtan Perulli enhanced sea flavors with delicious lobster ravioli served with shell soup, and super-smooth jumbo shrimp with cucumber ball, yogurt ice cream and basil jus. The sommelier offers us to pair these dishes with a glass of white wine from Loire, a Menetou-Salon Morgues 100% Sauvignon cuvée 2018 from Domaine Pellé for a fresh note as we enjoyed our meal.
Then, we had some delicious rare veal fillet covered in his jus as shiny as a mirror and served with a side of artichokes and flavorful girolles. We have also been told that game is to come soon to the menu. As for wine, we are invited to enjoy some Bordeaux red wine: Pessac-Léognan from 2017 from Château Coucheroy, quite silky and fruity that can be great to pair game.
Moving on to cheese, we fell in love with some creamy Mont d’Or cheese mousse, symbolizing transition to the generosity of the Fall-Winter delights. We end the tasting with some ultra-regressive dessert: garden hazelnut soufflé mixing airy texture and praline indulgence.
To break the sweetness, there is nothing like something sour. And this is why this delicious dessert is served with some fig sorbet and roasted fig with crunchy hazelnuts. Pair it with a glass of sweet wine with citrus fruit hints: a Jurançon Costat Darrès Cuvée 2018 by Jean March Grussaité – which is also a biodynamic wine.
A wellness getaway
You get it, Domaine de la Corniche is the promise of an indulging stay. But this is not the only asset of this incredible place. You can also enjoy the Spaquana guests can access all day long upon booking and as they want from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with Cinq Mondes products.
Enjoy the 14mx4m indoor swimming pool with whirlpool baths and massaging jets in a relaxing atmosphere, a hammam, and even a sauna. Take the time to lay on the beds set in alcoves for a more private atmosphere.
A haven of peace also designed for families
What about families? In this friendly estate, children and adults are welcome! As parents can relax at the spa, the youngest have their very own club. They can enjoy yurts standing by the playground area and the henhouse where the chef comes to collect the eggs.
By the greatest nomadic traditions, several beds expect children for a nap, and the second yurt is the activity and workshop theater with an activity leader. The movie theater program also enjoys sessions for children and the billiard room is also fitted with cues for children so that families can enjoy a great game.
The spa also opens to children where they can share a wonderful and relaxing moment with their parents thanks to fitted treatments. Last but not least, the hotel does not lack activities to recommend around like the Zoo Safari of Thoiry just nearby or even cruises on the Seine for ship’s boys.
Domaine de la Corniche is cooking up a great program for school breaks:
- For Fall break, children are invited to take part in a Halloween-themed entertainment in one of the yurts.
- For Christmas, a 14mx7m ice-skating rink is coming to the hotel, and a Christmas menu will be soon unveiled and served at the panoramic restaurant.
