Early reopening of pizzeria Louie Louie in Paris! Since Ile-de-France has moved into green area, all restaurants and establishments of the Liquid Corp group are now open to the public. The pizzeria in the 11th arrondissement opens not only its terrace but also indoors, on evenings from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and for lunch only on weekends from noon to 3 p.m.
At Louie Louie, people speak Italian in the kitchen, and this is a detail that doesn’t deceive. This Italian restaurant with a funny name settled in on rue de Charonne in November 2015. Behind its large glassed door, a long room with a sober and Scandinavian décor, already filled with gourmands seated between exposed stone walls or perched on bar stools. Some are quietly eating while others are sipping their cocktails in a merry and friendly atmosphere.
First things first, we browse through the cocktail list for a while. The lucky winners are: a Bottled Vieux Carré, rather strong, and a delicious Back to Basil based on Vodka Stolichnaya Blue, homemade pepper syrup, olive oil, squeezed lemon juice, egg white, fresh basil and top soda. Now, we know it, Louie Louie definitely is Moonshiner’s little brother!
Set in a quiet place, by the open-plan kitchen, the smell of pizzas doesn’t take long to come and tickle our nostrils and whet our appetites.
As a starter, we go for the creamy burrata with capers, olive oil and pepper – absolutely delicious. But you better share it to make sure you’ve got some room left for pizzas…
And speaking of pizzas, here they are! Even tough very busy, the staff is very effective and the chefs are running around the kitchen. They’re always in a good mood, laughing and joking around between two slices of tomatoes.
Among a beautiful list of very mouthwatering pizzas (and one salad for the silhouette), we picked the Diavola (San Marzano tomato sauce, Fior di latte, spicy Spianata, Ricotta and basil), spicy but to die for, and the Dano (San Marzano tomato sauce, burrata, sun-dried tomatoes and pesto), of an unparalleled freshness.
In this instance, these pizzas are definitely as thin, creamy and hearty as the ones in Italy. With a nice glass of Italien red wine: Buonissimo!
After such a feast, we were unable to eat a dessert – no room left in our tummies. But we’ll gladly come back to taste the Banana Split, the Affogato or the rum Baba and discover the other delicious pizzas!
A piece of advice, friends, you better book a table to be sure you’ll get one. Or Louie Louie is also up for take away and deliveries.
