Abattoir Végétal, vegan restaurant Mairie du 18e - Permanently closed

Vegan friends, we've discovered a great address in the 18th arrondissement: l'Abattoir Végétal. The name, a nod to the address's history (a former neighborhood butcher's shop), sets the tone. Rest assured, here we just slaughter fruit and vegetables to the delight of vegetarian gourmets, and the least we can say is that the result is delicious at a ridiculously low price!

Opened in February 2017, L'Abattoir Végétal is a resto-coffee shop that's set to change the lives of vegans in Paris! The place, imagined by a couple, Ava and Bastien Lagatta, is dedicated to healthy gastronomy/gourmandise.

The couple's cosy, cheerful atmosphere has already won over dozens of regulars, who come every day to be inspired and rejuvenated by the dishes, juices and salads served, for lunch or just for a vitamin break: a haven for vegans and families alike! Yes, Ava and Bastien are really welcoming in this space, which they have designed to be cosy and gourmet: a treat we never expected.

L'Abattoir Végétal has all the makings of a spot for those who want to recharge their batteries in Paris, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life: every day (except Monday, a day of rest!), they offer 3 different starters (between 6 and 8 euros), 3 main courses (between14 and 16 euros) and 3 desserts (around 8€) all different in texture, but exploding in the mouth, really tasty and 100% vegetarian (1/3 vegan). For lunch, a more-than-reasonable menu offers starter, main course and dessert for €18!

At weekends, l'Abattoir Végétal invites the curious to a vegan brunch at 25€ (and 5€ for children, no more expensive thana Happy Meal): velouté, vitamin-packed salad, muesli bowl, buddha bowl, cakes, fruit méli mélo, fresh fruit juice and choice of hot drink (Choco Cho ideal for toddlers), the formula is just top-notch and unexpected for the price, especially as the whole thing is very tasty - enough to make children adore fruit and vegetables - and really interesting to reproduce, enough to convert the most carnivorous to plant-based gourmet eating!
