Take a coffee in Turin, add the Brooklyn spirit into it, shake well and you get the new hot spot in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Answering to the sweet name of Marcello, this new bar-restaurant takes us far from the Parisian bitumen with its lovely cobbled terrace down the rue Mabillon and its large room with a design and clean décor.
A true haven of peace with 130 seats where we let ourselves charmed with the wall covered in climbing plants and the romantic little fountain in the backyard that, in light of the pennies laying on the bottom, reminded the Trevi fountain in Rome to some.
Yet we are in Paris, facing the Marché Saint-Germain and Marcella settled in here in mid-February 2017. The place owners, the Vasconsin sisters are no newbies in Paris since they already own Bocca Della Verita and Blueberry, two tables in rue du Sabot in Paris 6th arrondissement too.
Here, they came up with a hybrid place serving drinks and dishes at anytime of the day. From the breakfast menu to the aperitivo without forgetting the coffee shop in the afternoon including macchiato and matcha latte or homemade pasta dishes for lunch or dinner, the house guarantees a non-stop service from 8 a.m. to midnight every day.
After work, people come here to enjoy the first spring evenings, a glass of Spritz (made of an artisanal vermouth) in hand (€12), the other nibbling on very soft black rice and sesame arancini (€9) or with dark truffle shavings with strong notes (€12), crispy beef balls (€12) and fried zucchinis and squids (€11). And we enjoy the sweet Italian life… in the heart of Paris.
