L’Atelier Ramey is one of the places we like to discover. A hidden address in Paris, a passionate chef and a surprising and rather cheap menu. Every day, we come to enjoy one of the 4 starters, 4 main dishes and 4 desserts cooked by the Italian chef, dishes to die for to be eaten in a bistro-like atmosphere and without fuss… You only have to taste one dish to understand why the restaurant has so many regulars!

Here is an address that is worth coming. L’Atelier Ramey, located just a few streets (and stairs) away from the Sacré-Coeur, near the Caulaincourt area, is a well set up local bistro. Since 2014, Dani Maïni and Nicolas Boissière welcome lovers of good cuisine on a daily basis for a gourmet moment of sharing.

Their principle? A light menu (4 starters, 4 main dishes and 4 desserts) renewed almost every day. Dishes are cooked with “quality ingredients, good for our life quality and coming from short circuits and partnerships with local suppliers”. That day, chef Giovanni Graziani cooked sunny dishes to go along with the Parisian heat.

A baked (hard boiled) egg with parmesan, truffle and spoletina, a perfectly cooked squid served with a delicious humus, a gazpacho and a vitello tonnato as a nod to the chef’s origins!

Coming next, a sea bream and its ratatouille, a saddle of lamb delicately cooked at low temperature, a veal liver and its celery purée, a plaice and its acquerello risotto, a risotto of an unparalleled quality! If the dishes made our mouths water, we couldn’t resist the call for discovering the prime rib of beef that triggered our curiosity.

To share with someone else, the rib is perfectly cooked in 40 minutes by the chef who brings this treasure on a board. The meat is already cut in raw morsels and we’ll undoubtedly enjoy it!

Mid potatoes and salad to think we are healthy and here we go for an explosion of flavors in our mouths: the color of the meat is selling us dream, the natural fat melts in our mouths, grains of salt explode, a potato that we eat here and there… for a moment, we are untouched by time.

 After such a feast, we must say, there was no room left in our bellies but the owner convinces us. We have to taste the (homemade) sorbet of the moment served with yogurt and granola, a cheating dessert. The pairing is very fresh and not too heavy so it goes very easy.

Let’s talk about serious things now, it’s time to pay: for the starter+main dish+ dessert set menu, we paid €39 per person, but since we dared to eat the prime rib of beef at €56 and 2 drinks, it cost us about €100 for two. A very pleasant moment that should be renewed from time to time!
