A sea air blows on Paris since this early February 2018. Etienne Ryckeboer, young entrepreneur from Normandy and seafood enthusiast, has opened Bulot Bulot in Paris 18th arrondissement: a gourmet address offering a breath of fresh sea air in Paris!
According to Etienne, Bulot Bulot is first and foremost a place providing “a change of scenery in a laid-back atmosphere by offering very affordable rates”. For a total immersion, Bulot Bulot looks like a fisherman’s hut thought up by famous studio Forall.
And it’s true we feel particularly at ease in this hut that is both modern and cozy, covering less than 30-sqm. Directly seated by the counter or on one of the bench seats, facing the bar, you’re sure to travel.
Moving on to food, Etienne Ryckeboer offers shells and crustaceans coming from France’s lovely shores – especially of Normandy. With products of an extreme freshness, Bulot Bulot changes its menu daily according to the daily delivery from the sea and the seasons. Sometimes, it happens some products are lacking such as prawns that night.
We decide to go for the famous and excellent whelks, coming with a creamy homemade mayonnaise!
Our neighbors went for the irresistible natural and award-winning oysters from Grouville-sur-mer. Oysters from Blainville or from Cancale are also available.
The rest looks as promising with a succulent truffled taramasalata, as well as the smoked eel. Delicious and soft in the mouth, our taste buds definitely loved these eels! We highly recommend them!
Moreover, Bulot Bulot has salmon and crab rillettes, crab, crab pincers, prawns and sand shrimps, clams, fish soup, smoked salmon and even lobsters used as filling for lobster rolls…
To accompany the whole, Bulot Bulot reveals a beautiful wine list in perfect harmony with seafood: Sauvignon, Muscadet, Chablis and even Sancerre and Riesling available as white wine or Côtes du Rhône and St-Emilion Grand Cru as red wine.
Other beverage lovers will not be left out thanks to the five-cocktail list by Margot Lecarpentier (former Experimental Cocktail Club bartender and lately at Combat bar in Belleville).
If the “Classic Moscow Mule” (ginger cordial, sugar syrup, lime, ginger beer and vodka) seduces patrons, I fall for the “Granville Spritz” (Saint-Germain, Sherry fino, Suze, fresh lemon juice and natural sparkling wine) perfectly matching whelks.

In terms of beers, you have a craft beer from Aveyron.
And good news if you’re in a hurry since Bulot Bulot also has a part of its menu to take away.
It’s sure, seafood lovers now have their Parisian headquarters! I’m telling you, Bulot Bulot is THE spot to discover asap is you want to experience an incredible and very friendly gustative journey to the Norman shores without even moving from Paris.
