At Bains du Marais, we celebrate Mediterranean. A spa and a restaurant at the same time, this major place for relaxation in Paris exists for over 20 years and has become a true temple of cocooning in full heart of Paris Marais neighborhood. Taken over by Michael Fox, this trendy place has been rethought up while keeping what’s made its success, wellbeing oriental way.
After closing for a year, we rediscover this legendary address rethought up by indoor architect Sophie Saint André. The outcome? A more contemporary style that still calls for relaxation while taking care of adding a wonderful Parisian touch. She uses emblematic elements such as iron beams that remind us of the Eiffel Tower, exposed stone walls, or red brick walls that we find a lot in Paris.
The place is the very definition of cocooning. A soothing atmosphere brought by the natural materials. Plants, soft yet colored tones and a natural light supplied by the glass roof set the tone. We also find a more exotic style that takes us straight to the Mediterranean with wonderful palm tree leaves suspensions and decoration items reminding us of a Ryad.
In this hybrid spot, we first discover a restaurant. At the helm of the latter, an Italian chef, Henry Melato, and another chef, Nadav Elbaz, who comes from Jerusalem. Together they came up with a healthy menu with Mediterranean hints. We can enjoy excellent falafels, a quinoa risotto and vegetables to die for, a delicious salmon tataki and of course, hummus. The asset of the menu is that it suits every kind of diet.
A 100% homemade cuisine you can enjoy throughout the day and even though if you feel just a tad peckish or definitely hungry. We can enjoy the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner and even for tea with a tasty break or the brunch that can be added to the package giving you an access to the hammam. The place even looks like a coffee shop for those who only want to enjoy an almond milk latte or relax with a detox juice.
But Bains du Marais wouldn’t be the temple of cocooning without its spa! On the ground floor, we find a great fresh and beautiful hair salon that makes you feel like you need some pamper time with the expert team taking great care of our locks.
Rooms dedicated to cabin treatments are also the theater for a wonderful relaxing moment. On the menu, solo or duo massages of which the techniques are inspired from all over the world. So yes, Oriental massage is obviously in, but you can go for a Balinese massage or a Tibetan massage with four hands. Relaxing, detox or energizing, each need has its massage! People in a rush can even find their happiness with the express massages.
For women and men, it’s the occasion to be pampered by choosing a skincare treatment with Sothys products. Other major services are also on the menu: manicure, pedicure, waxing, is there anything they haven’t thought about?
And of course, the major and most important element of Bains du Marais, the feature that makes the whole place what it is: the Hammam! A 70sqm room with private scrubbing rooms where you make the best of the Oriental art de vivre! Here, treatments are made in respect of the art with quality and natural treatments!
The soul of this hammam is called Wafae. From Berber origin, she’s been working in this field for over 20 years and wellness has no secret for her. So much that she’s a master in the art of giving and creating her own treatments. The secret of her recipes is well kept, yet, one thing is sure, all her recipes are based on natural ingredients. Argan oil, olive, prickly pear, henna, rose, chickpea, orange blossom, she knows all the Mediterranean beauty secrets that have been proving themselves for centuries.
And she’s even able to prepare custom-treatments according to her clients. Perfectly mastering her art, she creates scrubbing respecting traditions yet adding her own touch: a cloud of foam applied on the body and I can almost hear you purr with pleasure. Once you’ve decided to leave the hammam, you can relax in the rest room that will help you extend this exquisite relaxing. moment.
