With its large patio doors, you only have to glance inside Simonetta to immediately know you want to go inside. The warm and wide room, often crowded (and it’s a good sign), opens onto an open-plan kitchen allowing us to admire the working pizzaiolo chefs.
Freshly arrived, we’re welcomed with a large smile, the staff is very considerate and the atmosphere – like the menu – exudes Italian sun. And for good reason, at Simonetta, each and every dish is homemade with fresh products coming straight from Italy. (Even pizzaiolo come straight from the Boot!)
As a starter, we go for the creamy and soft burrata served with a delicious homemade focaccia. A starter costs between €7 and €11 and we advise you to share unless you’re really starving.
Next, Simonetta offers several pasta dishes (from €13 to €16), salads (€14-18), but first and foremost many pizzas costing from €11 to €18. Pizza is Simonetta’s star. From the traditional Margherita to the most sophisticated, there’s something for everyone and we really love how original recipes are (pear, artichoke or mushroom carpaccio, lemon/cherry tomato emulsion, etc.).
Tempted by the lemony flavors and the pear and gorgonzola pairing, we finally go for a Punta d’Anca and a Sottobosco. After waiting less longer than we needed to think (and for good reason, pizzas spend less than one minute in the Neapolitan oven!), the generous pizzas are coming. We don’t regret our choices, it’s delicious!
Simonetta’s secret it’s the pizza dough: unlike most regular pizzerias, it’s prepared 48 hours prior to being used and contains a very high hydration rate. Once it’s cooked, the dough is soft, light and very digestible! And the icing on the cake, the flour is organic.
As a dessert, we can’t tell you what to have so much it was good: for max €10, all classics are here, from the tiramisu to the panna cotta without forgetting hazelnut pastries, our stomachs could barely accept a tiramisu after such a feast, so we go for tow artisanal scoops of ice-cream. A tad disappointing, the other Dolce sounded delicious though… We should try them all next time!
You get it now, we loved Simonetta where everything is homemade with local and quality products. A true success you want to experience asap!
