American fast-food brand created in 1986 in the United-States Five Guys (Barack Obama’s favorite, and once you’ve tasted it, you know why), keeps on storming Paris.
Five Guys opened its 9th restaurant in France on Monday May 28 in the Gare du Nord shopping mall, after settling down in Bercy Village, Opera and on the Champs-Elysées in Paris as well as in La Défense, a few kilometers from Paris.
The perfect place for the brand since it’s the first European railway station including 700,000 daily commuters (some 2000 million per year!) and as many potential patrons. The 250-sqm restaurant features 60 seats and a screen displaying the next departure. Not a bad idea so that you can make sure you won’t miss your train.
This Gare du Nord Five Guys restaurant is the first one of the brand to offer a breakfast. And it’s an exclusivity since the Gare du Nord is a travel place. Breakfast could be offered in other stations and airports if the brand could settle there.
So, what do we have for breakfast?
As for the other meals, no menu, but à la carte items. If for breakfast, Five Guys proposes all its usual products, some breakfast special novelties have appeared on the menu.
Let’s start with the Egg bacon cheese sandwich, a very traditional American sandwich that is very popular for breakfast in the US. It’s the same bun as for burgers and two fried eggs, “perfectly cooked, not leaky and not dry” Five Guys France business development manager Maxime Lestringant explains. This base costs €3.5. You can add bacon and cheese, the American cheese. The complete version is worth €6.
Of course, like for burgers, you can add all the ingredients you want to pimp it up (mayonnaise, salad, pickles, tomatoes, fried onions, mushrooms…) and of course a steak for an additional cost (€3)… And I can tell you, you should do it, just for the juicy aspect of the meat that pairs well with eggs.
To accompany your sandwich, new drinks: coffee (expresso, Americano, latte or cappuccino) between €2 and €3.50, tea and even a fresh orange juice from Ulti for €3.
Breakfast is served every morning from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Gare du Nord Five Guys. The rest of the day, the restaurant will serve its delicious burgers, fries and milkshakes.
Yet, with the station undergoing renovation works, the restaurant is quite discreet. From the outside, the landmark is the statue of the red winged bear showing you the entrance of the fast-food that has no toilet, since all the stores in the Gare du Nord, because charged toilets are available within the station.
