May ultra-sophisticated gastronomy lovers go on their ways… Because good products lovers are running to Coup d'Oeil! Open eight months ago by David Rougier, who used to work at Etna and natural wine fan sommelier, this new bar and bistro could be one of the newest trendy places in town.
Not because it’s highly frequented by particularly hip celebrities, but simply because it’s a gem. From the place’s architecture to the seasoning without forgetting the crockery, the pepper, everything has been thought in detail for a surprisingly simple result.
Since they are good and well-selected, products are left as raw as possible to make the best of their flavors. A little bit of pepper and scallion, a drizzle of Greek olive oil to enhance the taste and that’s it!
At lunch, we enjoy a set menu for €14, €16 or €18, whereas for dinner, we are more into plates to share (also available for lunch!) served along with a nice glass of natural wine, of course. Fish, cold cuts, vegetables, desserts, there’s something for everyone and we can’t choose among all those mouthwatering options, so we let Dominique choose for us.
Divine devil eggs (€5), wild duck terrine (€9), white taramasalata by Maison Petrossian (€8), Salaisons assortment (€13), 30-month old comté cheese (€9), very soft squid from Galicia (very rare!), ultra-creamy raw milk burrata (€9)… Small plates follow one another and feed us well until we’re full (allow 3 to 4 plates per person).
As for drinks, you may enjoy the diversity and originality of the thoroughly selected wines (€6-7 by the glass) and if you feel like it, close your eyes and taste the gin from Domaine Milan, a liquor as soft as velvet that is a feast for the palate of all night-birds.
In two words, with its warm welcome, it’s products to die for and the great care given to details, we can say it’s flawless!
