You know Mad Max, the futuristic film, right? Discover Made Mex, a Mexican restaurant as strong for the taste buds as Mad Max for the eyes. And for those who don’t feel like moving to Vélizy-Villacoublay, where the big restaurant is, Made Mex thought about you by creating a corner in the 3rd arrondissement near the Carreau du Temple.
You can’t miss it, a huge Mexican hat stands above the small place. At the corner, it’s obviously to take-away, because the address only has a kitchen and an order counter. A minimalist and super cute restaurant.
Made Mex promises us a “Mex-healthy” experience, think Mexican and healthy at the same time. And believing the produces, we can’t agree more: French poultry, organic beef, PDO cheese, GMO-free corn, fresh vegetables of the day and most of all, everything is 100% homemade and 100% cooked on the spot! Moreover, Made Mex offers a whole bunch of options for every kind of foodies: corn tortilla instead of wheat tortilla (gluten-free then) and vegan recipes!
But what do we actually eat? As tapas, chicken dips with chili and salsa sauce (€4.5), a delicious and super spicy guacamole (€4.90) in which we dip totopos (kinds of nachos but much better and super crispy) and green peppers stuffed with mozzarella and corn (€3.80).
But that’s not all! On a super colorful and visual menu (on which all ingredients are detailed), Made Mex also offers 6 recipes of tacos (€9.50 for 3 beautiful and hearty tacos). Choose between: El Abogado (chicken, avocado, feta, Emmental, salad, tomato), the Frenchy Beef (beef, green pepper, cumin yoghurt, crispy corn, tomme de Savoie cheese), the Fish’n’Chips (breaded cod, cumin yogurt, pan-fried garlic potatoes, matured cheddar) and even the Healthy, the vegan version tacos (tofu, red pepper, green pepper, tomato, kidney beans, guacamole, vegan cheddar)!
On the menu, we also find 6 very hearty burritos recipes (€9.50). For example, the gourmet “Italien” (beef, tomato, red pepper, basil, roasted eggplant, mozzarella), the sweet-savory “Bollywood” (chicken, raisins, pineapple, curry, coconut milk, ginger, matured cheddar) or the bulky “Barbac” (beef, chicken, green pepper, kidney beans, red onions compote with pepper, black olives, corn, tomme de Savoie cheese).
If you happen to have some room left after that, Made Mex also gets its supplies of desserts thanks to Rachel’s Cake; the day we came, a beautiful slice of walnut from Périgord pie (€3.90). And desserts change daily!
If you are looking for something fresher to wash it all down, note that Made Mex has Los Pistoleros ice creams and homemade fruit juices (€3.50). We tasted the pineapple-carrot/red bell pepper and the strawberry/melon/beetroot and we loved it!
To be enjoyed in the street or al fresco, under the trees of the Square du Temple, a few steps from the corner!
