Louie Louie, a pizzeria in 11th arrondissement has inspired others. Its creators have exported to La Défense and have just opened Marco Marco, a pizzeria in the Oxygen building (also housing the new Bioburger flagship) set at the foot of the esplanade, by the Esplanade de la Défense metro station exit.
The first thing we notice by going in Marco Marco is the large window doors allowing us to enjoy the sun as soon as it comes out.
The décor is very colorful with blue, green, yellow, all bright colors.
The restaurant has thought about everyone: from the lonely worker who comes to have lunch and can have a seat at the counter, to the colleagues who come as a squad and can grab a seat on the many large tables, and even on the bench seats – if they’re free.
Marco Marco pizzas are cooked with woodfire before patrons’ eyes: the cuisine and especially the oven give onto the dining room.
Marco Marco menu is rather short and goes straight to the point, including classics from the Italian cuisine: four pasta recipes, ten pizzas, a few starters to share and sweet treats for dessert.
Marco Marco offers a lunch set menu for €15. Please note that for the moment, the restaurant is only open at lunchtime during the week.
Our visit at Marco Marco has started with a traditional Italian aperitif with a nice glass of Negroni aged in a wooden barrel and an original Bellini with its purée (and no syrup) of white peaches. A cocktail in tribute to the neighborhood since Marco Marco is set above the Bellini quarter in Puteaux.
Marco Marco spicy calzone is very tasty and quite strong, as for the pasta of the moment – large spaghetti with mushroom cream and pancetta – they were very delicious and of a great quality.
The – mostly Italian – staff’s welcome was just as delightful as the plate’s content.
La Défense workers or simply people visiting the business area, we’ve found a new Italian canteen for lunchtime.
