With spring springing, MOB Hotel set a stone’s throw from the Saint-Ouen flea market gave a new life to its restaurant’s menu.
For spring and summer 2019, sun and Mediterranean have been given pride of place with the restaurant’s new menu, the menu has been designed by the same team as Mamma Shelter’s. The food in this restaurant is spicy but not too much.
The chef invites us to discover Tunisian food with tuna mechouia and Tunis salad. As well as Greek food with Skordalia, a light potato and almond hummus served with olive oil and oils from Kalamata. An original recipe, very creamy and flavorful. As a starter, we also fall for the light and very fresh cod ceviche with a ginger marinade with lemon zests and pomegranate.
As for the mains, grilled sardines are served with perfectly cooked and seasoned spinach.
And whoever speaks about the Mediterranean also speaks about Italy. And whoever speaks about Italy means pizza. Pizzas are always beautiful and present on the menu of MOB Hotel restaurant. The house pizzaiolo John Berg is twice World’s Pizza Champion and developed new recipes with even more Mediterranean twists. He created the Cagole with pistou as well as the Misahan. This specialty is not really a pizza: it’s shaped like a puff turnover, like a calzone, but perfectly round, thanks to a dough with oriental notes. The inside is filled with chicken confit with 7 spices. It’s very flavorful and definitely not spicy even though we’d loved more sauce – but it wasn’t dry. As for the best signature pizzas, they haven’t disappeared from the menu.
Ingredients are always organic, of course.
MOB Hôtel restaurant has two atmospheres, inside with bargain-hunted décor and outside, on the terrace. The very large terrace hasn’t open yet, but it soon will. For now, we eat on the covered, heated and hanging terrace. A few tables are also available outside.
