With Lionel Messi signing up with the PSG, Argentinean gastronomy and culture are likely to be all trends in Paris. So, to taste food that fed the soccer player since he was a child, run to Biondi. A very tasty restaurant in Paris 11th arrondissement, a stone's throw from the Cirque d'Hiver.
At Biondi, sun is always welcome on the large 40-seat terrace and in the plates for Parisians’, tourists’ and gourmets’ delight. Set at the corner of Rue de Crussol and Rue Amelit, Biondi dinning room (with exposed stones) plays a delightful jazz music playlist and enjoy several doors. Therefore, the win is very delightful when the weather is very sunny.
Running this bistronomic table in Paris 11th arrondissement, Argentinean chef Fernando de Tomaso who puts in his plates all the culinary richness of his birth country.
For lunch, Biondi provides a very affordable lunch menu: €18 for starter-main course-dessert. The authentic and tasty cuisine cooked by Fernando de Tomaso fits every budget.
For this culinary travel to Argentina without ever living Paris, the chef first indulged us to beef cecina, smoked and aged beef ham with spices. A vert delicate and original cold cut. Then, we had the veal's tongue salad served with light and airy homemade mayonnaise. A very surprising fashion to cook offal. Once the surprise is gone, this starter is actually very delicious.
But what we were truly impatient to try were the empanadas, an iconic dish from Argentina. At Biondi, they are very crunchy because fried to order, stuffed with well-seasoned beef and chopped tomatoes. So good.
That lunch, the daily special featured plancha sea bass, perfectly cooked, served with mussels and Argentinean pesto with lemon, served with some delicious mashed potatoes. As for meat, the daily special suggested the braised pork belly with carrot and zucchini cream. The meat was so tender.
As for dessert, the "flan", very tasty and low in sugar and its creamy dulce de leche mousse dome gave the last delightful blow.
Biondi's menu is packed with exceptional meats, mostly beef (Holstein, Galice...), matured or not, braised.
Dishes we gladly pair with Argentinean wines.
Only beautiful discoveries for the taste buds along this very exotic lunch.
