As usual, sunny days also mean that Westin-Paris Vendôme terrace is about to reopen.
For summer 2019, this new temporary restaurant will highlight a theme: savannah.
Moved by a “returning from a travel” spirit, this summer terrace evokes ethnic crafts with raw materials in a very authentic atmosphere. Plants and water mix for a lovely and pleasant atmopshere under the lions' and giraffes' watchful eye.
Unlike other terraces offering breathtaking views on Paris, the advantage of Westin Paris Vendôme terrace lays in the fact that it's set in the heart of the historic building, away from pyring eyes and the street's hustle and bustle.
Chef David Réal has created a menu with summer recipes inspired by the terrace. As a starter, he offers – among others – a cantaloupe/watermelon gazpacho, grilled squid and shrimp fritters.
For the main course, you can order raw, marinated or snacked fish like the Germon tuna served with a very tasty salad made of snow peas or the grilled cod served with tomatoes and fava beans. We also loved the fregola sarda cooked like a risotto with Gambero shrimp, very tasty, and with some Bellota chorizo.
As for the meat, you have the lamb sausage tagine prepared with baby artichokes and peas, or the piece of beef from Limousin, Chimichuri sauce (that is not too spicy) and sweet potato fries.
Moving on to desserts, it’s female pastry chef Florence Lesage who manages them. She concocted sherbets and some desserts based on chocolate, coffee, vanilla and even fruits.
Moreover, you also have a cocktail list as exotic as the food. The place’s barmen have prepared 6 summer cocktail recipes, based on soursop juice, lime juice, guava juice, 3 cocktails with champagne and 3 alcohol-free cocktails.
Please note that until late September, this summer terrace is the only restaurant of the hotel. Le First restaurant only serves breakfasts and Sunday’s brunch. As for the Bar des Tuileries, it’s closed.
