L’Atelier 102, the Japanese restaurant rocking Paris 14th arrondissement

L’Atelier 102 is an iconic table in the Pernety neighborhood: bento and Japanese food lovers, we’ve found your new spot in Paris 14th arrondissement!

Set on a quiet street in Paris 14th arrondissement, L’Atelier 102 has an eye-catching and very Japanese façade with drawings of ramen and bento and calligraphed letters. Its name may ring a bell if you’ve been in the neighborhood before because it has been serving food for decades!

Since January 2019, L’Atelier 102 has changed its menu, at the instigation of M. Kathiresu, a cook who worked with rue Sainte-Anne Japanese chefs. According to him, a nice restaurant where you can eat a delicious ramen was missing in the neighborhood, it’s solved, then!

The menu – displayed in the street – gives pride of place to bentos mixing meat and fish, ramen to warm the heart and tasty teriyaki chicken. It’s mouthwatering!

When you walk in the room, you can feel the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. L’Atelier 102 menu is displayed on a large board inside and we’re brought a smaller menu at our table for more comfort.

The menu is rather long, with the unmissable treats of the Japanese cuisine! We go for a bento and a chicken-katsu, but we also can’t miss the homemade gyosa and some fritters as starters.

Gyosa are crispy and smooth and fritters delight everyone. It’s normal to wait a bit, everything is homemade! The bento is a beautiful surprise: salmon, chicken vegetables rice beautifully plated, a complete meal for €14.80. As for the chicken-katsu, it’s soft and served with rice and cabbage.

Next to us, a curry and a ramen are served, and they smell so good we know what to order next time. Portions are hearty but we don’t feel completely full so, we can have a little dessert!

And it’s great because we have the traditional kidney bean mochi and dorayaki, as well as fromage blanc and ripe mango for healthier desserts just as delicious. These desserts make us feel like we've travelled all the way to Japan.

We feel so good in this cocoon that we need a few more minutes to get up. It’s obvious, L’Atelier 102 is a nice table likely to delight everyone!
