Meat eaters, this new restaurant was made for you! Carni is the new meat restaurant in Paris 9th arrondissement providing meat cooked over bbq or low temperature. We gave it a good go and let us tell you more about it!

Meat eaters have a new spot, Carni! Sebastien Daver and Nicolas Barbier – already running L’Epuisette, a fish and seafood restaurant – open their second restaurant, Carni, a table entirely devoted to meat and always set in Paris 9th arrondissement, a stone’s throw from their first business.

Like for L’Epuisette, Carni provides (seasonal and recurrent) tapas, as well as meat cuts to share. Matured prime rib of beef, sirloin steak, lamb's shoulder, bellota chorizo falafel, duck rillettes, chicken nuggets, bean tempura, veal's kidneys, lamb tataki, rabbit saddle ballotine... A great offer for all tastes and needs, and reasoned, please!

And note that although Carni's cellar is mostly filled with red wines, to pair meat and cold cuts, it also enjoys a nice selection of white wines and rosés, wines mostly natural or organic, as well as a rather original cocktail list (€11).

For lunch, Carni provides three affordable set menus for €15, €18 and €21. The lunch main course is to choose between "Normande" flank steak and shallot sauce, caramelized pork ribs and bbq sauce and poultry supreme and pepper sauce. As for dinner, choose off the tapas menu and meats to share. The house's specialty? The marrow bone to enjoy to your heart's content!

We discovered the marrow bone and a part of the lunch menu and of the dinner menu. And it was flavorsome, served with knife-cut Thai tartare. We went for the rabbit ballotine, the bellota chorizo falafels and the bean tempuras. Three tapas, very delicate and with flavors as surprising as interesting, but mostly coherent together or with other tapas, adding a great touch.

As for the lunch menu, we went for the poultry supreme and mashed carrots. The meat is very tender and the mashed carrots with Timut pepper is as delicious as can be! The mix of carrots and pepper is striking, a genuine culinary stroke of genius if you love great flavors. As for wine, a flavorsome Côte du Rhône off the great natural wine list provided by the house. And for dessert, honey-roasted cherries and some vanilla white chocolate ganache and hibiscus meringue to delight our taste buds!

A heart-stopping restaurant for sure if you love meat but not only! In terms of quality-price ratio, it is exquisite. Allow between €7 and €16 for tapas, and portions are not too big or not enough. Add to this the fineness of dishes and you will get something so great it would be wrong to miss it.
