At Bichettes, on the terrace, let us share old-fashioned recipes with guests, based on local and seasonal ingredients in a very friendly atmosphere. Simple comfort food!

Set a stone’s throw from the Canal Saint-Martin, a small and friendly canteen invites us to relax on a terrace: Bichettes. Running the place, Agathe Fondeville and Hortense Hérisson, two friends who love simple cuisine and old-fashioned recipes they chose to shine a light on in their small restaurant in Paris 10th arrondissement.

In a warm setting made of knick-knacks, dried flowers and good taste, Bichettes offers you to take a walk down memory lane, with weekends spent at your grandparents’ thanks to a short and simple menu of traditional recipes a tad regressive based on tasty local and seasonal ingredients sourced from small producers. And they are all served on gorgeous vintage ceramic plates, mismatched, all very beautiful.

Here, the ide ais to share small dishes with guests, as it is now usual to do in Paris. when we came, the board featured hearty pork rillettes (€9), green asparagus served with cream cheese and strawberries (€14) – very seasonal! – a nice handful of fried squids (€10 the small plate, €24 the big one), or deviled eggs (€4).

As for bigger courses to share, let us name the herring with chorizo and goat’s cheese (€11), a delightful pairing, as well as the mind-blowing beef bourguignon fritters (€12) both crunchy and smooth, very tasty, that reminded us of the fritters we had at Diggity.

To pair your lunch with some refreshing Saint-Germain Spritz, then an exquisite glass of orange wineBichettes makes it a point of honor to served natural and biodynamic wines – before wrapping it up with some light chocolate mousse made by young pastry chef Cassandra. Simple but tasty products, sunny terrace, perfect conviviality, we will come back!
