Maison de Victor Hugo has been housing Café Mulot for one year now. The restaurant was created by chef Fabien Rouillard from Maison Mulot, the famous catering bakery-patisserie in Saint Germain des Prés for decades. Set within the writer’s apartments, and looking on the verdant and bucolic courtyard, the café is open to all, without having to go through the museum (which access is free of charge!).

The place is not very famous yet, so, you better hurry to enjoy the quiet and intimate setting, far from crowds and traffic!

Genuine haven of peace, Café Mulot is the perfect place to enjoy some “me-time” with your family or friends, to relax, recharge your batteries and enjoy a piece of the history of Paris.

Before or after visiting the museum, enjoy the wide selection of indulging and 100% homemade products made with the Maison Mulot chefs’ know-hows, and enjoy a seat on the terrace or inside, in a cozy corner.

The café was created as an extension to the Maison de Victor Hugo. You will therefore discover two spaces with their own universes making you travel in the writer’s world. The inside is clean, inspired by a winter garden with large glassed doors and mixes classic architecture and contemporary art works inspired by Hugo. Outside, enjoy the romantic garden swept by the wind in the trees and the sound of the fountain and birds chirping.

Beyond classic French cuisine products, enjoy a meal exclusively inspired by Hugo: start with a fresh salad and a glass of wine, and round off on a sweet note with the Leopoldine pastry.

As Mulot rimes with Hugo, discover works that have been custom-made by Lamarche-Ovize artists inspired by Victor Hugo’s universe;

Café Mulot also recently started to house exclusive entertainments: conferences from the museum’s general curator exploring Victor Hugo’s world, Literary Meetings or Musical Sundays. You can also book for a group or event rent the entire place for your receptions, business events, birthdays or even cocktail parties!
