Already settled in several locations in Paris (moored, on the right bank and with Barbot restaurant), Les Maquereaux company unveils a new spot in Paris for the summer 2022. Les Maquereaux Rive Gauche moored quai d’Austerlitz in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, at the foot of the Cité de la Mode et du Design.
For this new place, Les Maquereaux have settled on a Green River boat, providing cruises on the Seine in small boats, as well as on the platform. On the menu of Les Maquereaux Rive Gauche, what made the success of the company: fish (but not only).
Open non-stop and without booking, Les Maquereaux enjoys several offers. At lunch, one can come and have dishes (fish and chips, Caesar salad, fried chicken), but at night, Les Maquereaux switches to apero-barge style with small dishes to share, inspired by the sea of course, but not only. In addition to oysters, whelks and shrimps, the menu also provides homemade taramasalata, as well as mackerel rillettes. And you cannot leave without tasting the recipe inspired by the name (mackerel being maquereau in French). These rillettes are very fresh, flavorsome, light… and perfectly seasoned. The gravlax salmon and homemade fritters fried to order are just as delighting.
And for those who would not answer the call of the sea, Les Maquereaux also serves cold cuts, hummus and burratina.
As for dessert, go for the moist homemade chocolate cake, and the dessert of the day, a fruit salad served with lemon crémeux and financier cakes.
Simple, effective and very tasty cuisine to enjoyed on dry land on the terrace, seated around a table or on deckchairs, or on the boat if you like the rocking of the Seine, on high tables with views on the Cité de la Mode et du Design or on the other bank, the Gare de Lyon train station area and its huge buildings.
Every weekend, in addition to the menu, Les Maquereaux takes the large brazier out over which the chef grills vegetables, meats and fishes.
Moving on to drinks, Les Maquereaux serves aperitif classics such as beer, wine and cocktail, including a revisited Spritz, the Hugo Spritz, based on elderflower liqueur.
Although the cuisine delights taste buds, the atmosphere and ambiance – without fuss – are very charming. No selection at the door or requested dress code, the place is welcoming. It suits families with children as much as groups of friends. As for groups, Les Maquereaux created a special offer with several areas on the boat they can rent, including a rooftop or the front area with a swimming pool.
Les Maquereaux Rive Gauche is not only a summer place. As a matter of fact, next winter, Les Maquereaux will be done refurbishing the inside of the boat and provides a dinning room and a club. This venue will continue to make a lot of noise.
