Ma Cocotte, Norbert Tarayre’s gourmet restaurant at the Saint-Ouen Flea Market

Ma Cocotte, the emblematic restaurant of the Saint-Ouen Flea Market, is now part of Bistrots pas Parisiens group by Hakim Gaouaoui and Norbert Tarayre. With chef Anthony Huguenin, they serve tasty bistro and homemade dishes for a small cost.

The news wasn’t really a buzz, but since 2015 Ma Cocotte restaurant set at the entrance of the Paul Bert / Serpette market of the Saint-Ouen Flean Market is now part of the Bistrots pas Parisiens groups managed by Hakim Gaouaoui who works very closely with famous TV chef Norbert Tarayre.

Norbert and Hakim haven’t changed the decoration of the restaurant designed by Philippe Starck (a very coveted decoration because some ill-intentioned smarty-pants robbed light bulbs in the restroom…) The lovely terraces when the sun is out, on the ground floor and the 1st floor are still there.
Yet, they have entirely altered the menu with the chef working in the kitchen, Anthony Huguenin.

Ma Cocotte menu is now short and only includes 4 starters, 4 main courses and 4 desserts, renewed every 4 weeks. Menu to which you should add the classics of Ma Cocotte such as the Cheese Burger, Veal Milanese or even Fish & Chips.
But first and foremost, Ma Cocotte menu gives pride of place to bistro food, simple food based on fresh ingredients but always with chef Anthony Huguenin’s gourmet touch. The whole for a rather affordable price and providing “an excellent quality/price ratio” Hakim Gaouaoui says.

Ma Cocotte is open every day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner even when the flea market is closed.
During the week, the set menu with starter+main course+dessert costs €29.90. On Saturday, it costs €39.90. As for Sunday, the brunch has been removed and orders can only be made à la carte.

Also available on Ma Cocotte menu, we have plates to share (excluded from the menu), with for instance, an exquisite homemade country terrine and homemade taramasalata.

In the €29.90 menu, you currently have, as a starter, an organic soft-boiled eff or a very fresh and flavorful seabass ceviche with mango and ginger served with pomegranate. What a delight!

Moving on to main courses, you can enjoy the 7-hour cooked lamb served with mashed potatoes or a steamed cod à la Thaïlandaise with Tom Yam sauce. The fish is excellent, perfectly cooked and the Tom Yam sauce has been revisited for the French foodies and isn’t super spicy.

Last but not least, let’s speak about desserts. We have the lukewarm apple pie with almond cream and lime zests as well as the French toast served with salted caramel ice cream.

Bistrots pas Parisiens currently include 5 restaurants in the Parisian suburbs: Saperlipopette in Puteaux, Macaille in Suresnes, Le Bistro de Paris in Colombes, LaHaut in Suresnes and Ma Cocotte in Saint-Ouen.
But the group doesn’t want to stop in such a good way: this May, they plan to open restaurant Ma Maison in Rueil-Malmaison that will also include a bakery-patisserie that will prepare breads and cakes for all the group. Norbert Tarayre and Hakim Gaouaoui also plan to open this summer Splash, a barge restaurant in Asnières in place of the Van Gogh.
