Get ready to travel, because this fondue is served on an island in the Bois de Boulogne... Yes, the restaurant is located on an island, so you have to take a small boat to get to the Chalet des Iles. On arrival, we find a genuine Swiss chalet, which was transported to Paris in parts for the pleasure ofEmpress Eugenie in the mid-19th century, the ideal spot for a raclette or fondue!
The Chalet des Iles understands this, and every year the restaurant offers a fondue party all winter long! The mountain dinner is held every Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Reservations are strongly recommended, to make fondue preparation easier in the kitchen!
On the menu: a casserole ofabondance, beaufort and cous cous, accompanied by two types of bread (traditional and farmhouse), potatoes and charcuterie. Dinner can be accompanied by a good wine, especially since Chalet des Iles has a fine cellar.
The cheese is meltingly soft and the charcuterie plentiful. The quantities presented are well proportioned to the number of guests on the table, but it's totally possible to ask for more potatoes (just in case, eh!). We forget time, and like children, we play at stealing each other's morsels!
At the end of the feast, a homemade blueberry tart or tarte tatin awaits us, but we're really no longer hungry... Then there are the digestifs to wash down all that cheese. The great thing about Chalet des Iles is that after dinner, you can take a digestive stroll around the island or through the woods before heading home.
We wholeheartedly endorse this fondue spot, to be enjoyed with family or friends.
