Taste of Paris is back at the Grand Palais from 18 to 21 May 2017. Already held in 23 cities, this is THE chefs and food lovers' festival. The principle? For 4 days, we can taste the best of the gastronomy at one venue, all in the capital's most beautiful setting.
Brought in London in 2004, the Taste Festival could not avoid Paris, the world capital of the gastronomy. Every year about 20 chefs, the best in Paris, set up a small restaurant in the heart of the Grand Palais to show us their signature dishes in small portions, these key dishes that make the attending chefs famous worldwide.
This year you can taste the cooking of many starred chefs: Guy Savoy (Guy Savoy 3* restaurant), Frédéric Anton (Le Pré Catelan 3*), Romain Meder (Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée 3*), Nicolas Beaumann (Maison Rostang 2*), Kei Kobayashi (Kei 2*), Thierry Marx (Mandarin Oriental, 2*), Yoshitaka Takayanagi (L'Agapé 1*), Stéphanie Le Quellec (La Scène at Prince de Galles 1*), Philippe Labbé (Tour d'Argent, 1*), Julia Sedefdjian (Les Fables de la Fontaine 1*), and of the best Parisian restaurants: Pierre Sang Boyer (Pierre Sang's restaurants), Juan Arbelaez (Nubé at the Hôtel Marignan), Grégory Marchand (Frenchie), Sylvestre Wahid (Thoumieux) and Tomy Gousset (Tomy & Co) represent the new Parisian stage, dynamic and multicultural.
Taste of Paris is not an ordinary exhibition in the way it only opens at mealtimes. You can come and have lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., or dinner from 7 p.m. to midnight. Here, the idea is not to sit at a table to taste the cooking of an excellent chef (you better go to the chef's restaurant), but to nibble food sample here and there to discover all the potential of the Parisian chef. You can also taste 3 to 4 dishes typical of each chef's cooking and discover the "Chefs' Secrets" during interactive cookery classes held throughout the festival.
Thus, at the entrance you choose your tasting package (rechargeable) according to what you would like to taste, knowing that a dish costs between €5 and €12!
The most curious visitors will have the opportunity to book a 4-cover table for an exceptional meal. In the Grand Palais enchanting setting, you can taste the best of the chefs during a sit down meal at the rotunda. During the meal you can meet chefs and leave with a gift. An unparalleled moment to experience in Paris!
Taste of Paris is also the opportunity for the chefs to introduce us their producers, last year, Sébastien Gravé (Pottoka) invited Eric Ospital, his old friend, Roberto Rispoli (Royal Monceau) supported in Italian the honour of the Parmigiano Reggiano and of the PDO Prosciutto di Parma, and Denny Imbroisi (IDA) the colors of Italy.
Under the Grande Nef Paris best delicatessen and the different culinary arts will be gathered together. Thus, every year, about one hundred brands are invited to show the best of their catalogs!
According to Jean-François Martins, tasked with Tourism and Sport at the Paris City Hall, "thanks to its 72 starred chefs, Paris turns its gastronomy into one of the key elements for its tourist attractiveness." As a result, 38% of foreign tourists like coming and coming back to Paris for its gastronomy. It was about time Taste settles in Paris, the world capital of the gastronomy!
