Brought in London in 2004, the Taste Festival could not avoid Paris, the world capital of the gastronomy. Every year about 20 chefs, the best in Paris, set up a small restaurant in the heart of the Grand Palais to show us their signature dishes in small portions, these key dishes that make the attending chefs famous worldwide.
Taste of Paris is not an ordinary exhibition in the way it only opens at mealtimes. You can come and have lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., or dinner from 7 p.m. to midnight. Here, the idea is not to sit at a table to taste the cooking of an excellent chef (you better go to the chef's restaurant), but to nibble food sample here and there to discover all the potential of the Parisian chef. You can also taste 3 to 4 dishes typical of each chef's cooking and discover the "Chefs' Secrets" during interactive cookery classes held throughout the festival.
The most privileged ones can book a VIP table for an exceptional meal. In the enchanting setting of the Grand Palais, we enjoy the best of chefs at the rotunda. Throughout the meal, we meet chefs and we leave with a gift. A unique moment to experience in Paris!
Thus, at the entrance you choose your tasting package (rechargeable) according to what you would like to taste, knowing that a dish costs between €5 and €12!
This year, we'll find the Taste Festival regulars: Frédéric Anton (Le Pré Catelan 3*), Romain Meder (Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée 3*), Kei Kobayashi (Kei 2*), Philippe Labbé (Tour dArgent, 1*), Pierre Sang Boyer (Restaurants Pierre Sang), Grégory Marchand (Frenchie) and Tomy Gousset (Tomy & Co) as well as new names: Alain Solivérès (Taillevent), Anne-Sophie Pic (La Dame de Pic), Bruno Doucet (La Régalade), Dan Yosha (Balagan), Denny Imbroisi (Epoca), Lucas Felzine (Uma), Nicolas Sale (Ritz Paris), Thibault Sombardier (Antoine & Mensae), Yoni Saada (Bagnard), Juan Arbelaez (La Casa), Jean Sevegnes (Ladurée).
The great novelty of Taste of Paris 2018 is the coming of many pastry chefs: Cédric Grolet (Le Meurice) present on Sunday May 20, Christophe Michalak (Michalak Paris) present on Thursday May 17, Nicolas Haelewyn (Karamel) present on Friday May 18, Yann Menguy (La Goutte d'Or) present on Saturday May 19, François Perret (Ritz Paris), Claire Heitzler (Ladurée), Goutran Cherrier (boulangeries Gontran Cherrier), Guy Krenzer (Lenôtre), Nina Métayer (Café Pouchkine), the 9 chefs who rocked the Parisian pastry.
The most curious visitors will have the opportunity to book small workshops with (very famous) chefs, conferences and masterclasses.
Taste of Paris is also the opportunity to discover great farmers such as the Briocherie Papa Boum, Fromagerie Berthaut, Kalios, Comptoir du Caviar, Huile des Orgues!
Under the Grande Nef Paris best delicatessen and the different culinary arts will be gathered together. Thus, every year, about one hundred brands are invited to show the best of their catalogs!
According to Jean-François Martins, tasked with Tourism and Sport at the Paris City Hall, "thanks to its 72 starred chefs, Paris turns its gastronomy into one of the key elements for its tourist attractiveness." As a result, 38% of foreign tourists like coming and coming back to Paris for its gastronomy. It was about time Taste settles in Paris, the world capital of the gastronomy!
We couldn't miss Taste at all, despite a high rate.
