Behind the curtain of Biotiful, Sonia Crène and Louis Demanche, two local friends who know their share in the cooking world. By the way, they also open a tartare bar back in 2013 just a block from there, Le Lanna Café.
When we come to Biotiful, we feel a bit like in Spain! We can lean our elbows on the large bar unearthed in the Basque Country or sit at one of the small tables facing the huge mural depicting Batignolles by TofDru. In summer, we enjoy the enormous patio door that completely opens and makes us enjoy the street life. At nighttime, the atmosphere is cozier with muted lights, we can have a seat in the small lounge that has been entirely bargain-hunted.
In terms of menu, tapas are given pride of place. With our friends, we order several dishes we nibble on. You have the pan-fried clams and cockles (€11), crab and artichoke rillettes (€11, Korean-style smoked eggplant (€7), confit rump steak with ginger and lime (€10), as well as artisanal Basque black pudding (€11), and the famous and oh-so soft burrata (€9)… if you want to end on a sweet note, go for the panna cotta with pink peppercorns (€8) or the raspberry custard (€8)…
To accompany all these delicious tapas, a beautiful wine list allowing you to have a drink by the glass such as the Côte de Provence “Opaline” La rose des vents for the rosés or the Côte du Rhône Ventoux, Châteaux Crois des Pins for reds or the Péchapié vin de Pays de l’Ile d’Oléron for whites. Just to name a few…
If you’re more into cocktails, you’re at the right address! Count on circa €12 to sip a Moscow Mule based on vodka, lime and ginger beer or the original Bloody Wei, a Japanese version of Bloody Mary with wasabi and soy sauce!
Biotiful is open from Tuesday to Saturday at lunchtime and dinnertime from 6 p.m. We highly advise you to book to get a table in this new and small address that is nice and friendly and where it feels good to come with friends for a pre-dinner drink after a long day at work!
