Seven years after Skyfall, four years after Spectre, Sam Mendes leaves the James Bond universe to show a very different genre.
With 1917 – out in France on January 15, 2020 – the British moviemaker offers us a war movie and makes us travel back in time, in 1917, at the height of World War I.
For this new feature film, Sam Mendes has decided to get cast talented actors such as George MacKay (Ophelia, Pride, Captain Fantastic…), Dean-Charles Chapman (The Passenger, Game of Thrones…), Mark Strong (Kingsman, Miss Sloane…), Andrew Scott (The Hollow Crown, Spectre….), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones…), Claire Duburcq as well as Colin Firth (Kingsman, Bridget Jones…) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Avengers, The Hobbit, Thor…).
Caught up in the whirlwinds of World War I, two young British soldiers Schofield and Blake are designated to carry out a mission that is basically impossible. Carrying a message that could avoid a devastating attack and the death of hundreds of soldiers, Blake’s brother among them, they are running against time and behind enemy lines.
Meet in French theaters starting January 15, 2020 to discover Sam Mendes’ 1917.
