Our review:

With AmbulanceMichael Bay - who made no movie since Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017, and mostly working as a producer - does Michael BayAmbulance is a mind-blowing movie with stuntshigh-speed pursuits, and explosions every two minutes. A very fun and entertaining movie although the story is unlikely.

With his sharp photography style, Michael Bay shots Los Angeles, its freeway, its buildings and cotumed people from Hollywood Boulevard with lots of beauty. His camera is always on the move, the design being very dynamic, often paired with soft or deep music. And the latter participates to the permanent tension of the movie.

Full of humor, the movie director delivers many WTF scenes. An armed robber robbing in Birkenstock, bandits stuck in a lift with a grand-mother's cane, a policeman fixing robbers' truck that stalled... But the most improbable scene award goes to Eiza Gonzalez - playing a paramedic, making us think of Gabriela Dawon in Chicago Fire - performs surgery in a speeding off ambulance. It seems she is playing a game of OperationHumor is always there, even in the line refering to Mel Gibson in Braveheart, Sean Connery in The Rock or even Dwayne Johnson.

Between jeering, smiling and joking Jake Gyllenhaal and more tensed Yahya Abdul-Mateen, viewers will not be bored. This movie is also the occasion for Michael Bay to focus on a deeper topic through the characters of Will (Yahya Abdul-Mateen): the destiny of veterans who did not serve their countries. And through both characters, Bay interferes with the bad guy/good guy limits because these robbers have a heart although the breaking ends in a blood bath.

Ambulance, painted in neon green, and always moving, reminds us of Speed or even Unstoppable.
