At 69, Liam Neeson is still not ready to put his gun away. The American-British actor is starring in the latest action movie “Blacklight” opening on February 23, 2022 in France.
After “The Commuter” (2018), “Cold Pursuit” (2019), “Honest Thief” (2020), and “The Ice Road” (2021), Liam Neeson is starring in another action movie. His favorite genre. And still at the frenetic pace of one movie per year.
The “Blacklight” thriller has been directed by Mark Williams, “Ozark” series showrunner, “Honest Thief” director on which he already worked with Liam Neeson.
In “Blacklight”, Neeson plays opposite Aidan Quinn (“Unknown”, 2011, with Liam Neeson), Taylor John Smith (“The Outpost”), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison Hargreeves in “The Umbrella Academy”), Claire Van Der Boom (“Hawaii Five-0”) and Yael Stone (“Orange is the new black”).
And unlike “Taken” where Liam Neeson’s character’s daughter is abducted, in “Blacklight”, his grand-daughter goes missing.
Plot:
Travis Block (Neeson) works for the FBI when all options have been used. His methods often involve the strong way. When he is ordered to keep an officer willing to tell the truth about the FBI’s method to the press quiet, he understands, he has become the pawn of a terrible machination. Willing to tell the truth, he starts fighting against those he is used to work with. But when his opponents attack his relatives, Travis uses his methods against his former employers, without mercy.

Our review:
If you like terrific action movies, then Blacklight was made for you. Explosions, high-speed chases - especially in waste trucks - stunts, shots, and grenade launcher shooting are on the menu of this movie against a backdrop of plot and secret mission.
Altough at the beginning, Blacklight makes us feel like Liam Neeson wants to hang up his gloves, in the movie as well as in real life, like he is ready to hand over the reins - of action movie and fight specialist - to younger actors, here Taylor John Smith, this feeling very quickly fades away. The actor - who plays a paranoid Vietnam war veteran suffering from OCD - quickly punches and draws guns.
