French hero created by playwright Edmond Rostand in 1897, Cyrano de Bergerac is the topic of a new American-British movie adaptation in 2022. Cyrano by Joe Wright was to be out on March 30, 2022, in French theaters.
And in 2022, the (original) play becomes not only a movie but a musical. For movie director Joe Wright not only adapts Rostand’s play but Erica Schmidt’s musical ‘Cyrano’.
Joe Wright is famous for having directed “The Woman in the Window”, a movie out last year on Netflix, as well as “Pride and Prejudice” and “Darkest Hour”. In “Cyrano”, he gives the lead to Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister in “Game of Thrones”). Haley Bennett (“The Girl on the Train”) is Roxanne. Ben Mendelsohn (Talos in a few Marvel movies), Brian Tyree Henry (“Godzilla vs Kong”, “The Eternals”…), Kelvin Harrison Jr (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”, “The High Note”…) and Ruth Sheen complete the cast of this singing “Cyrano”.
Plot:
Cyrano de Bergerac (Peter Dinklage) is a man thinking ahead of his time who excels in the dexterity of his quick response as well as of his sword. But convinced his appearance will deprive him of loving the one dear to him forever, the radiant Roxanne (Haley Bennett), he cannot decide to confess her his love, letting her fell under the spell of the handsome Christian (Kelvin Harrison Jr).
