Colin Firth is back with a historic movie set during the Second World War. “Operation Mincemeat”, a movie directed by John Madden, starring Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen, will open on April 27, 2022, in France.

John Madden has directed among others Miss Sloane in 2017 with Jessica Chastain and Shakespeare in Love in 1999 starring Gwyneth Paltrow. In 2022, for his new movie, he focuses on a particular event of WWII.

In “Operation Mincemeat”, he directs Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilton (also starring in Downton Abbey: A New Era out the same day), Jason Isaacs and Johnny Flynn.

The “Operation Mincemeatmovie premiers at the Reims Polar festival but does not compete.

Plot:

1943. The Allies are determined to break Hitler’s dominance over occupied Europe and consider landing in Sicily. But they face an extricable challenge for they have to protect troops against an almost sure slaughter. Two brilliant British intelligence officers, Ewen Montagu (Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Macfadyen) are entrusted with developing the most unlikely – and clever – war propaganda… using the body of a secret agent!
