The Champs-Elysées Film Festival is back in June 2020 with more ambition: defending and promoting French and American independent cinema and give a new lease on cultural life to the legendary avenue. And because of the coronavirus and confinement, this year's edition will be online and 100% free of charge.
For a week the Avenue des Champs-Elysées will live at the same rhythm as cinema with events open to all. 5 movie theaters on the Champs-Elysées will screen movies in competition, premieres, masterclasses, conferences, showcases on the Publicis rooftop, special nights such as the opening and the closing nights open for €35!
As we don't know when movie theaters will be allowed to open again and the government has announced no big festival in France will take place until mid-July, organizers thought about an online edition that is more uniting than before: it will be exceptionally free of charge. The occasion to discover the best of French and American independent cinema.
Champs-Elysées Film Festival 2020 program:
The opening night is planned on June 9, 2020 and will start with a musical act by Barbara Carlotti at 7 p.m. followed by the premiere of Jumbo by Zoé Wittock starring Noémie Merlant and Emmanuelle Bercot at 8:30 p.m..
Two exceptional guests from the international cinema universe support the festival and will honor it with their digital presence: filmmakers Stephen Frears and Edgar Wright. Two online masterclasses are scheduled: Stephen Frears will viturally meet the public on Wednesday June 10 at 6 p.m. (CEST) and Edgar Wright on Saturday June 13 at 6 p.m. (CST) live from the official website and on social networks.
