The centre des arts in Enghien-les-Bains expects to attract movie fans with the edition 2020 of the Paris Images Trade Show, a summit devoted to special effects. From January 29 to February 1, 2020, the PITS provides us with many movies to see before anyone else, meetings with big names from the cinematic universe, conferences, an exhibition and a lot more entertainments around movies and special effects.
The Paris Images Trade Show festival starts with a highlight: The Third Floor previsualization studio founder Chris Edwards will be given the Visionary GENIE Award 2020. His name may not ring a bell but you know the movies he worked on: he’s behind many Walt Disney movies, he worked on Star Wars III: The Revenge of the Sith, on the latest Star Wars movie, on the Game of Thrones series, as well as many Marvel movies: Avenger’s: Endgame, Gardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Captain Marvel…
This impressive record owes him to be awarded and named guest of honor of the festival. You don’t want to miss his masterclass on Friday January 31 at 7 p.m.: Chris Edwards will talk about his career, his work methods and the movies that made his fame.
The Paris Images Trade Show is also a moment to screen movies and documentaries. To celebrate the 100th birthday of Ray Harryhausen, the festival provides a free screening of Jason and the Argonauts. A documentary will also be screened: Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan, screened on Saturday February 1 at 5 p.m. Two movies will be premiering the same day: Dolittle at 2 p.m. and Le Prince Oublié at 7 p.m.
The festival will also give the floor to Réjane Vallée, conference host specialized in visual effects, for a conference: Deep Fake: une histoire des images truquées. The PITS will also kick off the Science-fiction: les artisans du rêve exhibition, a look on the work of special effect professionals. You can discover costumes, decors and props from Star Trek, Star Wars, Valerian and the city of a thousand planets…
For professionals or budding moviemakers, the PITS festival is the place to be to discover schools, temporary show business workers or professionals. Many entertainments and panels are planned all along the fair, all you need to satisfy your curiosity about the cinematic world.
