This year, 150 modern and contemporary art galleries expect you. Among the new exhibitors we have Art Concept, Ceysson & Bénétière, Jérôme Poggi, Praz Delavallade and even SAGE Paris. All in all, 20 countries are represented including Cameroun, Bulgaria, Mexico and Peru: a first since the creation of Art Paris! More than ever, the event rejects the boundaries and invites to discover.
By the way, Art Paris invites you to a cultural journey with Etoile du Sud. This exhibition presents a focus on Latin-American art from the 60’s to nowadays. About twenty European, Asian and south-American galleries joined forces to show you the work of 60 artists. 8 nationalities from Latin America are represented: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia and Cuba. A genuine invitation to travel and discover new horizons through Art!
And it’s not the only highlight of this 21st edition. Art Paris also gives pride of place to female creation in France. Twenty-five projects by French female artists have been selected among the offers provided by the exhibiting galleries by the AWARE association working as the curator. This focus evolves around four themes: abstraction, female avant-garde, picture and sculpture / drama / décor.
As it happens every year since 2015, Art Paris encourages exhibiting galleries to display monographic exhibitions (focusing on one single artist). And for the edition 2019, we discover 39 of them, a record for the event. Stay alert because these Solo Shows popping out under the Grand Palais cupola likely can trigger your curiosity!
Let’s not forget either about visiting the Secteur Promesses. Here, 14 promising and young art galleries are put in the spotlight by the fair, each displaying one to three emerging artists. Keep your eyes open and remember their names, you may hear about them very soon.
But careful though, Art Paris is not only an event dedicated to experts. This event aims at putting contemporary art to everyone’s reach. So, to help you understand the displayed works better, 80 interpreting tours are held in partnership with the Observatoire de l’Art Contemporain.
The icing on the cake, the show also introduces you to its VIP tour “A Paris au Printemps” [In Paris in Spring]. Through it, Art Paris shows you how the city of lights actually became one of the world’s capitals of art especially with the opening of private foundations. In spring, art events increase making of Paris the place to be! This tour also highlights the Latin-American presence in France, echoing the Etoile du Sud exhibition.
You get it now: for this edition, Art Paris outdoes itself even more for art discoveries lovers’ greatest joy.
