Winter sales kick off on January 20, 2021 in a very special context amid the coronavirus epidemic. If good deals usually attract crowds, the health protocol implemented from November 26 tends to make stores more difficult to access. Hand sanitizer, limited number of customers, booking time slots in some stores, enjoying discount requires organization.

This year, sales take place in a very special context. The health crisis causing them to be delayed from January 20, to February 16, 2021 as Christmas stocks are still around.

Limited number of customers, including in small stores, to comply with the one-person-per-8sqm-rule, the health protocol set up since November 28, 2020 is known in France. Paths have been throught over to avoid people walking by each other, and hand-sanitizer is systematically provided at the entrance.

Faced with issues for buyers, Proximis VP &CMO Eric Voltzenlogel recommends stores to bet on the Internet.

"In order to avoid desillusions, it is important to display availability of products in stores, so that clients can come and get their purchase safely" he says as he bets on simplified client experience.

As for main networks, the specialist recommends storekeepers to always seek solution for customers that came buy, even if it means delivered the product available in another store of the network... which is vital to keep customers as the time has come for digital purchase.

Note that the government also allowed stores to reopen on Sundays in January 2021, as decreed on December 29, 2020.
