Usually, every year, for the Holidays, the world’s most beautiful avenue looks like a Christmas village. With the beautiful lights, it’s a moment very awaited by tourists and Parisians. Last year, Champs-Elysées Christmas market has been cancelled and it surprised everyone, leaving us dissatisfied and with no other alternatives to enliven this festive period.
This year, we won’t go far since the famous Christmas market will take place at the Jardin des Tuileries. From November 24, 2018 to January 6, 2019, head to the Place de la Concorde to discover a redesigned Christmas Market sweetly called “La Magie de Noël” [The Magic of Christmas].
Indeed, even though Marcel Campion is no longer part of the organizing team of the market, he said that this Christmas Market will be different. “Mayor Anne Hidalgo excluded me from the Champs-Elysées claiming that I was making into made in China. Now, I will offer 80% of French stands” said the carny to our colleagues from France Inter. This edition 2018 provides a market more in line with what all strollers expect.
Despite the call from Paris authorities to abolish this Christmas market following homophobic remarks made by Campion, the market will happen. Unlike political and ministerial announcements, the event won’t be put into question: Marcel Campion not being the chairman of the association and having not signed the occupancy agreements.
Let’s not forget that this Christmas market is Paris most visited market. It welcomes from 13 to 15 million visitors during the season. And whatever people say, it’s an attraction very expected by walkers looking for a nice stroll and Christmas magic.
Organized every year from November to January, the Champs-Elysées Christmas Market was the perfect opportunity to discover all kinds of objects. Between waffles, crepes and sweets stands, you used to meet artisans from all across France who gladly shared their passion as well as more common objects stands that we find in many markets and the quality could leave a lot to be desired.
But we used to go there for good deals such as merry-go-rounds, cute scenes with snowmen, restaurants (and mulled wine) and the skating rink (nothing on the matter has been announced yet)!
In other words, just a few more days to wait before knowing what the Jardin des Tuileries Christmas Market has in store.
