Every year, for the Holidays, the world’s most beautiful avenue looks like a Christmas Village. Displaying new modern and eco-friendly lights, that please or not passersby, the Avenue des Champs-Elysées used to accommodate the famous Christmas Market and its many attractions.
For the record, if every year, over 15 million visitors roam across the alleys of this famous festive market, Marcel Campion’s version of the Champs-Elysées Christmas Market has been cancelled by Paris City Hall…
But, according to French news channel BFMTV, the carny – who owns a contract to set up the Concorde Ferries Wheel – is said to have promised “a surprise” to Paris City Hall for November 17, 2017, the day of the Wheel inauguration.
At the City Hall, it’s considered as the carny forcing Christmas Market through. Some clues?
Technicians from Marcel Campion’s company have been noticed in September while they were setting power outlets up on Avenue des Champs-Elysées. Marcel Campion defends himself and points out he has been commissioned by an art fair to supply electricity, he who is the owner of switching cabinets on Avenue des Champs-Elysées. This summons proved him right and lead one believe that carnies will respect the cancelation of the Christmas Market as we currently know it.
But, on October 25, 2017, our editorial board received a release from a time-limited restaurant said to open from November 17, 2017 to January 2, 2018... above the Champs-Elysées skating rink. Bum note from the organization? The restaurant communications teams don't seem to know about the Christmas Market cancelation and planned to be here on November 17!
Organized every year from November to January, the Champs-Elysées Christmas Market was the perfect opportunity to discover all kinds of objects. Between waffles, crepes and sweets stands, you used to meet artisans from all across France who gladly shared their passion as well as more common objects stands that we find in many markets and the quality could leave a lot to be desired.
But we used to go there for good deals such as merry-go-rounds, cute scenes with snowmen, restaurants (and mulled wine) and the skating rink!
If this stroll enchants you, we'll let you know: is it happening or not? Verdict on November 17, 2017?
