Supersevens 2020: the rugby sevens championship at Paris La Défense Arena

First professional rugby sevens championship, Supersevens comes to Paris La Défense Arena on Saturday February 1, 2020 with a day likely to be filled with sport and fun!

Rugby sevens is coming to Paris in 2020. On Saturday February 1, Paris La Défense Arena – the arena where Racing 92 trains – will open for Supersevens, an event considered as the first professional rugby sevens championship! During this day, the championship will see 14 TOP 14 clubs and two guest clubs face off one another. The two guest clubs are the Barbarians rugby club and the Monaco rugby sevens.

Beyond the quick and direct game as advocated by rugby sevens, this new competition will allow to highlight this sport and make it more accessible.

According to the press release, this National Rugby League professional championship “should settle the rugby sevens culture and develop a tank of high-level players in preparation for the main goal of Paris 2024 Summer Olympics”.

And to make this sporting event just as festive, Supersevens hopes to turn into a genuine festival devoted to rugby. So, the National Rugby League wishes to develop a program of entertainments going beyond rugby with concerts, DJ sets and so on…
