A few weeks prior to the beginning of Euro 2021 soccer competition, Sports minister confirmed there will be fan-zones set up everywhere in France throughout the competition. Of course, some specific health guidelines are to be complied with, starting with health pass-holding to access fan-zones including over 1,000 people.

There will indeed by fan-zones in France for the upcoming Euro 2021 soccer competition. This Friday May 21, 2021, French Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu reassured supporters as for the installation of fan-zones during the competition said to take place from June 11 to July 11, 2021. These open-air places reserved for supporters will yet have to comply with some health conditions.

Because of the health context – always improving but still uncertain – Sports minister rather stays cautious for the Euro 2021 fan-zones that could be genuine microbe nests, like for any gathering. “There will be specific rules for fan-zones during Euro in France”, she confirms on France info. Yet, to make sure viewers “can attend games on a big screen”, these fan-zones will be framed by a strict health protocol.

On site, facemask-wearing will be compulsory, so will health guidelines and social distancing as much as possible. If the fan-zone exceeds 1,000 people, the minister considers the access will be “probably” conditioned to the presentation of a health pass. Namely a Covid-19 vaccine certificate, an infection recovery certificate, or a negative PCR test. Exact locations of these fan-zones are to be announced a few days before the beginning of Euro 2021.
