Every year, one of our favorite chefs, Michael Bartocetti creates a new yule log each one more original than the last. After amazing us last year with his spinning top, the chef plays again the childhood card by offering us a train: the Shangri-La Express.
As a matter of fact, Christmas is before all a family story and a child story. To be inspired, the chef walked memory lane and found a childhood memory: his father’s collector train given by his grand-father. A train that was said to be his on the day he could take care of his belongings… Well, this has still not happened but in the meantime, an alternative train comes to Shangri-La Hotel Paris. A train as beautiful as tasty that should please everyone.
This year, the chef has decided to innovate in terms of flavors and offer a yule log with unusual flavors, it was the right move to do because this yule log is simply fantastic.
Think: a light chocolate mousse with lemongrass and a fresh and delicious banana confit with vanilla and lime. The whole topping a crispy peanut and salt flower biscuit and a flour-less dark chocolate cake. In terms of décor, note that the bumpers and the chimney are filled with the excellent peanut praline coated with white chocolate. The little train wagon is stuffed with chocolate/lime truffles with a lovely fizzy taste.
In short, here’s a sure bet if you’re looking for an exceptional yule log.
