Montmartre puts its Christmas' best for locals' and tourists' greatest joy. And new this year, a Christmas village is coming at the foot of the Sacré Coeur in the charming Louise Michel park, decorated with lights especially on the occasion.
French craftsmen are given pride of place in this first Montmartre Christmas village including no fewer than 20 local artisans, designers and creators who will show you their know-how: Leather, Christmas ornaments, household linen, soy wax candles, candlesticks, angora wool sweaters from a Breton farm, jewels and leather belts, natural leaves covered in fine fold and even organic beauty products based on white olive oil.
In terms of food, you’ll enjoy specialties from various regions in France: Honey from Paris, foie gras from Auvergne, pretzels from Alsace, tapenade from Provence, cheese from Pyrénées, dry fruits, cookies, teas and roasted chestnuts. Without forgetting the famous homemade mulled wine with spices recipe!
Santa Claus will also come to meet kids during the free workshops on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays: Christmas bulbs decoration, felt star making, painting and so on… All this in Montmartre wonderful area, at the foot of the basilica and under the huge 4-m tall Christmas tree.
