Château de Vaux le Vicomte celebrates Christmas with a never-seen-befor decor. While the Château is closed in the winter, it opens some days from November 23, 2019 to January 5, 2020. The Voguë family welcomes little ones and grown-ups in a décor entirely devoted to Christmas holidays.
An enchanting visit for the greatest pleasure of couples and families looking for magical and exceptional moment in the gardens à la française.
On the menu, a visit of the Château, the Carriage museum and the gardens in a magic and welcoming atmosphere made of thousands of light garlands and giant trees. As soon as we arrive, the magic works with an alley of fir trees outside the Château, like a magical road to a fantastic universe...
This year, the Château de Vaux le Vicomte invites you to enjoy a Christmas with a thousand and one colors. The Grande Chambre Carrée provides you with a warm atmopshere with Fall colors, while the Salon des Muses will sparkle and glimmer with a thousand silver decorations.
The Cabinet des Jeux will display a Christmas tree decorated with unique pieces made of chocolate by the Comptoir du Cacao, while a wonderful bright red Christmas table will be set in the Antichambre d'Hercule by Villeory & Boch.
As for the library, it will be covered in bronze-colored decoration representing the celebrations of the Holidays like in Great-Britain.
Theis year's masterpiece is undoubtedly the Grand Salon, the main room of the château where lays a majestic pyramidal nativity scene - entirely gilded - measuring 8-m high and spinning around. This work only required 6 months of work to the château decorator Eric Naudin and his team.
If the weather is mild enough, you can enjoy a walk in the garden thought up by Le Nôtre, it’s covered in a multitude of light garlands lighting up at nightfall and making box trees and lawns sparkle while a 5-m squirrel rules over the gardens à la française: for a unique moment, horse-drawn-carriage rides for an additional cost.
And to keep a souvenir of this day: a surprise PAPO gift is givent to all children under 6 years old. The 7-17 years old can leave with a gingerbread made by Maison Fossier!
Every day until December 31, go and look for the golden hazelnuts hidden in the gardens and try and win a Goodwill bag of Christmas decorations!
And from January 2 to 5, 2020, Vaux-le-Vicomte invites visitors to celebrate the Mages. Every day, find the giant squirrel-shaped charm hidden in the gardens to win a king cake made by the château pastry chef!
And this year, make something good: each child that brings a book to the Red Cross stall at the entrance of the estate will get a ribbon to tie on a red and gold Christmas tree while making a wish. Books collected by the French Red Cross of Seine-et-Marne will be wrapped and given to underprivileged children and their families who are kindly invited by the estate on Saturday January 4 to enjoy a magic and privileged moment.
Small bonus, for visitors who come and visit the estate on weekday from November 27 to December 21, 2019, you can rent a costume for children and adult free of charge.
In short, here’s how to be amazed and left in awe.
