Last night, PM Edouard Philippe presented phase 2 of the government's containment exit plan. From now on, Île-de-France is orange and the rest of France is green. Parks and gardens, restaurants and bars (in green area), terraces (in orange area), as well as movie theaters and museums will soon reopen, relieving and delighting many French people.
The Prime Minister also said that starting from June 2, trips will no longer be limited to 100 km. Good news for all those dreaming of getting a breath of fresh air after months of lockdown and limited trips.
Careful though, Pentecost is this weekend and it is out of question to break the rule! This Friday, Secretary of the Interior Christophe Castaner called for French people's "responsibility and civism" for phase 2 of the containment exit, saying that "we haven't won the fight against Covid-19 in France and the world".
Invited on RTL this morning, the Secretary of the Interior insisted on the fact that the 100km rule, beyond which it is banned to go was "still on this weekend" extended to celebrate Pentecost. "There will be controls. The goal has never been to punish French people with fine, but to protect them".
