We keep on monitoring data as for the coronavirus situation in France closely. More and more departments are once again vigilance areas because of the virus being highly active. This Thursday January 14, 2021, 53.7% of ICU beds are taken in France. 100 departments are highly vulnerable. The entire country is still on health emergency and is now placed into early curfew starting 6 p.m.

As for the evolution of the situation on Thursday January 14, 2021, there are 21,228 new cases confirmed. Therefore 2,851,670 people have been infected by coronavirus since the epidemic started in France. This January 13, 2021, 8,950 people have been hospitalized the past 7 days in France, including 1,324 new patients checked in ICU282 people have died since the latest report in France, totalling 69,313 deaths including 48,310 (+282) at the hospital and 21,003 in nursing homes. At least 318,216 (+71,049) people have been vacinated in France.

As of January 10, 2021, the incidence rate, that is to say the number of patients who have had a positive RT-PCR test for 100,000 inhabitants per week was still decreasing and reached 188. The R, representing the average amount of people contaminated by each person infected by COVID-19, reached 0.99 on January 2. The occupancy rate of ICU beds in France reaches 53.7% as of January 14, 2021. 6.52% of tests performed in France are positive over the past seven days.

This Thursday January 14, 2021 Jean Castex announced nationwide curfew from 6 p.m. for at least two weeks. The incidence rate by department remains an indicator to monitor very closely to know more about the evolution of the epidemic. As a matter of fact, even though departments exceeding the threshold of 200 positive cases for 100,000 inhabitants were first to make new measures to fight against the spread of the epidemic, including implementing extended curfew, brought forward to 6 p.m., the entire country now has to comply with the measure until the situation improves.
