We keep on monitoring data as for the coronavirus situation in France closely. More and more departments are once again vigilance areas because of the virus being highly active. This Wednesday October 21, 2020, 91 departments are highly vulnerable. The entire country is on health emergency. Paris and Île-de-France, as well as 8 cities are on curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
As for the evolution of the situation on Wednesday October 21, 2020, 26,676 new cases confirmed have been reported in 24 hours. At least 957,421 people have been infected by coronavirus since the epidemic broke out in France. As of October 21, 2020, 9,375 people have been admitted to the hospital in France, over the past 7 days, including 1,584 new patients in ICU. 163 people have died in France these past 24 hours, leading to a total of 34,048 deaths.
All departments are vulnerable:
- Normal level - 0 department
- Mildly vulnerable - 10 departments: (Charente-Maritime, Côtes-d'Armor, Finistère, Indre, Manche, Morbihan, Orne, Territoire de Belfort, Réunion, Mayotte).

As of Friday October 16, 2020, the incidence rate, that is to say the number of patients who have had a positive RT-PCR test for 100,000 inhabitants per week reached 235%. The occupation rate of ICU beds in France reaches 41.3% as of October 19, 2020, and 13.4% of tests performed in France are positive.
In addition to the 3 criteria used so far, naming active circulation of the virus, hospital tension as for ICU capacities and capacity to perform tests, the general health management board says the authorities are considering other indicators such as positive test rate.
The new map issued on the Health Minister website on Saturday October 17, 2020 shows that from now on the entire France is on health emergency. Paris and the whole Île-de-France, as well as the cities of Aix-Marseille, Lyon, Lille, Grenoble, Saint-Etienne, Rouen, Toulouse and Montpellier are on health emergency including curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. since Saturday October 17, 2020.
