Covid vaccine: Moderna vaccine effective for at least 6 months, the company says

The American company has released results from the second quarter and confirms their Covid vaccine is effective for at least 6 months.

Covid vaccine effective for one to three years... This is what Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said this past May 22 in JDD, adding once both doses have been goven, "immunity lasts 1 to 3 years, depending on the sick". A statement about immunity completing data collected after several clinical trials.

This Thursday August 5, 2021, Moderna unveils results from the second quarter and confirms the Coronavirus vaccine is effective for at least 6 months. While protection supplied by the booster shotscurrently completing a test trial, is "strong" against Covid variants.

In an official public release, the American biotechnology company claims their vaccine is still 93% effective against Covid 6 months past the injection of the second dose, according to clinical trials currently carried out and all along on thousands of vaccinees.

"We are pleased that our COVID-19 vaccine is showing durable efficacy of 93% through six months, but recognize that the Delta variant is a significant new threat so we must remain vigilant", said Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of Moderna.

Results from the trials phase 2 on the third dose, working against variants, could be issued soon, after peer-reviewed, according to the company.
