Covid vaccine: cyberattack on the European Medicines Agency

Documents related to Pfizer Covid vaccine have been hacked this Wednesday December 9 during a cyberattack on the European Medicines Agency. Pfizer and BioNTech have guaranteed their system has not been hacked.

Pfizer Covid vaccine caught up in the turmoil again… After severe allergic creations have been reported in the United-Kingdom during the first day of the vaccination plan; this Wednesday December 9, hackers have attacked the European Medicines Agency to steal documents related to the vaccine. The news has been announced by Pfizer laboratory, that also said in a release “no BioNTech or Pfizer systems have been breached in connection with this incident”.

They added: “we are unaware that any study participants have been identified through the data being accessed.” The laboratory goes on: “At this time, we await further information about EMA’s investigation and will respond appropriately and in accordance with EU law”. They conclude: “Given the critical public health considerations and the importance of transparency, we continue to provide clarity around all aspects of the vaccine development and regulatory processes.”

As for the European Medicines Agency, currently assessing the application for issuing the aforementioned vaccine, they did not say when this cyberattack took place nor who did it. An attack that took place after a series of warnings and attempted cyberattacks on other laboratories and pharmaceutical groups working on developing Covid vaccine.
